Since partnering with The Heart That Gives Foundation in 2022, we've had the privilege of helping to build homes for the Zulu people in South Africa, aligning with our mission to make a difference with every home we help buy or sell in Austin.
This partnership reflects our dedication to providing essential housing, furnishings, and food to those in need. Today, I’m excited to share an inspiring conversation with Fay Lowry, the visionary founder of The Heart That Gives Foundation.
Fay: In 2016, I traveled to South Africa with a friend who had a charity focused on helping the African people. We stayed in an African Zulu village, and my mother and youngest daughter joined us for the three-week trip. Each day, we were involved in assisting those in need, and it was during this time that I felt a calling to do more. This experience inspired me to start my own foundation.
Fay: The Heart That Gives Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization that has been established to help the hungry and the poor people of the KwaZulu-Natal region in South Africa, as well as orphaned children and individuals with disabilities in Uganda. We assist by providing education and skills to help empower people to move out of poverty.
Fay: Since the inception of The Heart That Gives Foundation, we’ve built seven homes, an orphanage, and three schools. Providing someone with a new home does more than offer a safe place to live—it gives them a sense of pride and peace of heart.
The schools we’ve built have had a profound impact on the entire community. Because of our efforts, children who might not have had the opportunity are now receiving an education.

Fay: We’re currently in the process of building a new orphanage in Uganda. We’ve outgrown our current facility, so we’re constructing two separate buildings—one for girls and one for boys. These new spaces will accommodate up to 60 children and will feature indoor plumbing. We’re incredibly excited about this development!
The Giles Group has been incredibly generous, and their support has profoundly impacted the lives of five families. Thanks to their generosity, we’ve been able to build five new homes. Many of these families had lost hope, but now they are living happy lives.
